A new property supplement has been described as “what Brighton and Hove has been waiting for”.

The 20-page Property pull-out launched by The Argus yesterday has dozens of different types of properties to view – captured in detail on broadsheet pages.

Editor Michael Beard said the platform for advertisers and readers had been missing from the city for some time.

Mr Beard said: “We hope we have put that right with the launch of Property.

“An active property market is important to the local economy and now, at the start of 2014, there is a genuine sense of recovery in the housing market that is stimulating other parts of the economy.

“We hope that Property will play an important part in that.”

The broadsheet format gives space to highlight properties and to showcase their quality in detail to readers and potential buyers.

The supplement will also include local and national news, area features and guest columnists with opinions from experts within the industry.

Paul Taggart, associate director at Hamptons International, said: “I think it’s something Brighton and Hove has been looking forward to.

“A good property supplement is something that’s really needed in the city.

“It’s very exciting. I think it’s going to be a real success.

“The papers outside the shop have been snapped up very quickly so we will have to order some more.”

Magnus Cartwright, 25, from Lewes Road, said: “It’s well laid-out, bright and colourful.”

Kazim Aslan, 33, from North Road, Brighton, said: “It’s nice to look at and something a bit different to look at in the paper.”

Harriet Wood, 50, from Brading Road, Brighton, said: “I like being able to look at the property and see what’s out there, even if I’m not buying any time soon.”

Julie Sutcliffe, 27, from Arundel Place, Brighton, said: “Just looking at the front page makes me remember how nice Brighton is.”
