Yellow fog warning issued for Sussex tomorrow

The Argus: A foggy Brighton scene from 2011 A foggy Brighton scene from 2011

A yellow weather warning for fog for Brighton and Hove and Sussex has been issued by the Met Office for tomorrow.

The national forecaster says: Patchy fog will form in places through Monday evening, perhaps becoming more widespread overnight and into Tuesday morning. The public should be aware of the potential for difficult driving conditions and some travel disruption.

Its chief forecaster's assessment adds: "Fog patches will affect some parts of the yellow area as early as Monday evening.

"However, there is potential for fog to become more widespread overnight and into Tuesday morning.

"Some places within the yellow area will not see fog, but where it forms it could be locally dense with visibility falling below 200 metres.

"The fog may be slow to clear on Tuesday in some places, especially across the east of the warning area."

The total area covered by the warning stretches along the south coast from Hampshire to Kent.

This yellow warning advises of a likely risk of  more widespread, locally dense fog affecting significant areas of the country but not persisting beyond one to two days.

The warning means some airports may close for short periods, drivers are warned to take extra care when driving in affected areas and allow extra time for their journeys.

If this yellow fog becomes a reality I predict a red mist will descend as a result of the travel disruption.

Take heed all those of you who were thinking about going for a joyride down the runway at Gatwick!
