A man left a shop worker shaken after robbing a Co-op store in St Leonards.

The female store assistant was working behind the till at the supermarket in Battle Road at about 9pm on Friday when a man approached her and ordered her to hand over money.

She handed over some money and the man left.

The robber was 5' 6" and of average build. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie with the hood up, a full face covering and gloves.

Detective Constable David Elcock said: "Thankfully the victim was not injured but she is understandably shaken by the incident.

"We need to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who maybe have seen or heard something. If you saw anyone acting suspiciously around the shop before 9pm or saw a man running away from it after the robbery we would also like to speak to you."
