Brighton's West Street closed

An 89-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a lorry in a busy city-centre street.

Brighton's West Street was closed when an elderly man was involved in a collision with a large lorry at the junction of Duke Street at 4.20pm.

The road remains closed between North Street and Russell Road in both directions while police and ambulances deal with the accident.

The man sustained a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital, but his condition is unknown.

The lorry driver is uninjured.

Bet there's a dozen or more Police there.
Deemed rather exciting manning road blocks in packs, and telling drivers to "go back"m at this 'major incident'.
Certainly beats the long-shot of catching burglars in the act by patrolling, or the low satisfaction from pulling over drivers over for texting.

Sorry about the elderly gentleman but in the trail it should have read "because of" not "due to". Check the style book.

...or "after" - "after" is good, because then there's absolutely no suggestion that being knocked down by a lorry and being taken to hospital are in any way connected.

Or the other two on duty responding to a two car accident at Rottingdean.

I don't know if this was due to the traffic lights but they are too close together and can cause confusion.

I am a car owner and a motorcycle owner and if that makes me a petrolhead then that's fine with me. I want the convenience of being able to travel when I want to where I want without pedalling or waiting for a bus. Is that wrong?
What is shameless is you rabid green tossers distorting facts and figures to suit and failing to listen when pretending to consult.

Selfish, inconsiderate and immoral. All these things are you. But as long as you're alright who cares, eh.

Completely agree. I've accidentally run a red light at the pedestrian crossing with lights next to TSB, thankfully it was in the early hours of a Tuesday morning so there wasn't anybody around.
