The Argus: £1 million lottery prize goes unclaimed from Brighton and Hove ticket after deadline expires £1 million lottery prize goes unclaimed from Brighton and Hove ticket after deadline expires

One absent-minded lottery player has just missed out on £1 million after a lottery prize went unclaimed.

The seven-figure prize EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle prize from the EuroMillions draw on July 26 has remained unclaimed more than 180 days after the draw took place.

The money will now go to good causes instead.

The ticket-holder bought their EuroMillions ticket in Brighton and Hove but the deadline to claim their prize expired at 11pm last night.

I'd still like to know at which shop the ticket was bought.

When a prize like this is up for grabs the shop that sold the ticket should be named to increase the chance of finding the winner plus there should be a longer period to claim after all a winning ticket is a winning ticket.Lots more could be done to chase the winner. If time is running out to claim the shop that sold the ticket should have posters up advising people to double check.

Nobody seems to have considered possibilities other than that the winner was absent minded- the ticket could have been lost/destroyed, the winner may have declined to claim the money for some reason (it has happened before), they may be unaware or they may quite simply be dead.

As I understand it, the money now goes into the good causes fund so it seems that we are all winners anyhow.

Yes too true, it would put my mind at rest anyway! I would know instantly if the shop had been named,if I would have ever shopped there. Instead we can all wonder 'what if ...'

So true, Believe it or not I bought a ticket for this draw and my daughter lost it on the beach while I was swimming. I have had numerous calls to TNL asking to find out where was purchased, They just wont let you know.

And now the time has passed and not claimed, maybe it really was ME!!! arghhhhh.

Im off to Beachy head

Quite agree, although I don't think it was me at least it would put a lot of peoples minds at rest if they knew it was an outlet that they don't/haven't used! Can't understand why they cannot say as they know where every ticket was purchased, which was proven recently when someone tried to cash a ticket that they had stole/found but said they had bought it elsewhere!
