FAIRYTALES were brought to life by young actors from a Rossendale school when they performed them in front of their parents. Mini-plays by Year 7 pupils at Fearns Community Sports College, in Stacksteads, included familiar stories such as Hansel and Gretel alongside a dark mystery entitled Gelert Without A Dog. Actors Taite Johnston and Joshua Berry also introduced the sketches. Emma Sweeney, head of performing arts, said: “They have all been working very hard in drama lessons to learn the lines and they have also made props for the performance in art. “They also had to source their own costumes.” The teacher also praised her performers’ ‘teamwork’ as some stepped in later.
