Ally  Oakes took on a hair-raising challenge to help raise money for charity.

The 22-year-old from Brighton agreed to have her head shaved to support The Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children in the UK and Ireland who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

Ms Oakes, who works at the Fossil store in Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton, was inspired after seeing a charity film showing a young girl who wanted to be a Rapunzel princess but had lost all her hair during cancer treatment.

She said: “Some people say I’m brave and others say I’m mad. I am happy to think I am somewhere between the two.”

The head shave took place at GirlBoy hairdressers in the shopping centre.

Ms Oakes has raised £1,400 so far and donations can be made at www.virginmoneygiving.com/ AlisonOakes.
