UPDATE: A woman who was hit by a bus this morning is now said to be fighting for her life in hospital

She suffered serious head injuries after being hit on Lewes Road, leading to the road being closed in both directions.

Emergency services were called at 8.36 this morning to Lewes Road, Brighton. The collision happened between Coldean Lane and Ringmer Road.

It is understood the woman in her 20s was hit by a bus and is being treated for what appears to be serious head injuries.

Collision on Lewes Road, air ambulance & someone clearly very injured. Hope no one dies and people don't just focus on traffic disruption.

Lewes Road has been closed while the accident is cleared and bus services are being diverted via Coldean Lane and Ditchling Road.

The 25 bus service is very limited, as its usual bendy buses can't travel along the diversionary route.

THERE IS A VERY LIMITED service on service 25. This is due to all Bendy Buses being withdrawn due to them being unsuitable for the diversion
