Phoenix Hockey Club’s ladies bounced back from their previous week’s disappointment with a 7-0 win against Brentwood thirds that kept their Essex Women’s League division one promotion bid on track.
The ladies’ first-team had lost 4-2 to leaders Southend and Benfleet seven days before, but hit back in the right way at struggling Brentwood.
There wasn’t such good news for the club’s ladies’ seconds, though, as their division three promotion push was hit by a 7-1 loss to East London thirds and Phoenix ladies thirds were hammered 10-0 by East London fourths in division four.
Phoenix’s men’s first team matched the ladies and bounced back from a defeat the week before with a victory in East League division three south east.
Having lost 2-1 to Upminster the previous week, they went on to beat Redbridge and Ilford 3-1 on the club’s newly-relaid pitch.
There wasn’t such good news for their other men’s teams, though.
The thirds drew 3-3 with Crostyx thirds in division seven south east, but the seconds were beaten 4-1 at Brentwood thirds in division five south east and the fourths lost 4-2 to Old Southendians sixths in division nine south east.
