A missing man could be in Brighton.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information about missing York man Edward Machin, known as Ed.

Inspector Michelle Falkingham said: "The longer Edward remains out of contact, the more concerned we are for his safety. While we are concentrating our searches in the area where he was last seen, we are also exploring the possibility that Edward may have travelled somewhere else. We know he has friends in the Brighton area and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard from Edward recently.

"We are also appealing to any public transport providers and passengers to contact us if they believe they have seen Edward either on a bus, train, taxi or anyone who may have given him a lift.

"His family and friends are beside themselves with worry and we are appealing to anyone who believes they have seen Edward to please get in touch. I would also like to appeal direct to Edward, if you see or hear our appeals, please get in touch with either your family, friends, the police, or the Missing People charity and let us know that you are safe."

Edward is described as white, 5ft 4in tall, of slim build with dark brown hair and blue-grey eyes. When he was last seen he was wearing a dark coloured jacket, a light coloured shirt, jeans and brown shoes.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 01904 618691.
