A masked man was thwarted as he tried to rob a shop with a handgun.
Armed police officers were called to the McColl's convenience store in Heene Road in Worthing at 3.40pm yesterday after a man threatened staff with a hand gun.
The man then escaped from the store without any money and is thought to have then made his getaway on a push bike.
Eye witnesses say the man was wearing a black hooded jacket, a balaclava, cream white cargo trousers and was carrying a black draw string carrier bag with 95 written on it.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 and quoting reference 955 of February 1.
