After being forced to kick their heels for two Saturdays due to inclement weather St Dogmaels are hoping for a return to action this weekend and reaching the semi-final of the J Emrys Morgan Cup for the third season on the trot.

Saints have been runners-up for the past two seasons, losing on penalties against Borth United in the final last term but there is a growing feeling in the camp that this time around it could prove third time lucky.

In round three the Teifi Estuary villagers rose to the occasion with a 2-1 away win over Rhayader Town Reserves of the Mid Wales League South and in the last round were again in Powys where they swept aside Meifod of the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League 7-2 with front-runner John Lumb hitting four goals.

Caersws Reserves are the reigning JT Hughes League champions and having reached the final only once – back in season 1984-85 when losing to Vale of Arrow – the Powys high-flyers have targeted this season’s competition.

Caersws pulled off a 3-0 win against Costcutter League champions New Quay at Parc Arthur in the third round and sprang a 3-0 win over Llanboidy in the last round.

Saints lifted the trophy in 1994-95 when beating Llanrhaeadr and were runners up in 1992 and 1994. With home advantage the Greens will no doubt fancy their chance of going through but manager James Walters is far too long in the tooth to underestimate the visitors who are sure to push the hosts all the way.

Three of the four Costcutter League Easter Monday Cup semi-finalists will be known on Saturday when holders Lampeter Town host New Quay at North Road, Bargod Rangers take on Crannog at Parc Puw and Maesglas lock horns with neighbours Cardigan Town at Maes Radley.
