The muted response to the launch of Labour’s manifesto for Croydon is a reminder of just how underwhelming their offer to voters really is.
Calling it ‘Ambitious for Croydon’ is a bit rich given that Andrew Pelling, the face of their campaign in the swing seat of Waddon has just been caught applying to seats in other boroughs.
I am no expert, but I cannot see local residents electing a candidate who is secretly planning to go part time before he has even got the job.
Croydon needs real action and dedicated fulltime Councillors to continue building on successes achieved by the Conservatives such as Westfield and the Waddon Leisure Centre.
The last time Labour were in they put Council Tax up by 27 per cent and we can not afford that again.
Under the leadership of Tony Newman, Croydon Labour’s entire campaign has been focussed on launching spiteful personal attacks on Conservative candidates through their Inside Croydon blog.
The Council elections this May will provide a clear choice for residents between the Conservatives who are offering bold, bright ideas and Labour who can only offer bitter campaigning and repulsive smears.
