Hundreds of green-fingered enthusiasts rooted out their favourite plants at Seedy Sunday at Brighton's Corn Exchange yesterday.

The 13th Seedy Sunday was hailed as a major success after gardeners and allotment holders swapped the vegetable and flower seeds they had carefully saved from last season’s harvest.

The event is the UK’s biggest and longest-running community seed swap with 3,000 taking part annually.

It could be under threat from EU legislators who want to change the laws surrounding home-made seed production.
