FOUR tries and two conversions saw Bassett Colts retain top spot in their division with a 24-0 victory at Marlborough.

Two tries from winger Corey McLaran-Hunt, one from centre Josh Lewanituva and one from second row Ben Barstow, plus two conversions by Matty Loader, got Bassett home against a solid and determined Marlborough defence.

The win keeps Bassett top of the Dorset & Wilts Merit Table Div Two (North), one point ahead of Minety who have played two more games.

Melksham are the next opponents for Bassett at Ballards Ash (2pm) on Sunday (February 9).

JAKE O'NEILL scored two second-half tries in inside seven minutes as Bassett showed their liking for Divison One Cup rugby having been promoted this season.

While Corsham scored first after just eight minutes, Bassett ran out winners with further tries from Sam Haskell, Matt Hayes and Dan Graham.

Accomplished full back Scott Douglas knocking over two conversions and Dan Sweeney added another.

Bassett now travel to Chippenham in an end-of-season, top-of-the-table finale in three week's time.
