THE spotlight will be on the county as the Best of Dorset Show comes to Weymouth Pavilion.

Exhibitors are being advised to book their stall early at the show, which is hoped by organisers to be ‘bigger and better’ than ever.

The Echo-backed event, organised by the borough council’s events team, will feature information and ideas of what to do in the county in 2014.

Organisers revealed details at the launch of the 14th annual Best of Dorset Show yesterday.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s tourism and culture spokesman Ian Bruce said: “The Best of Dorset show offers local businesses and attractions a unique opportunity to promote their services, meet their customers and generate a real boost to their business in 2014.”

It takes place on Sunday, March 30, from 11am to 4pm.

This year’s 14th annual free event will feature live entertainment on the Weymouth Pavilion stage throughout the day, fun events for children, Nothe Fort Re-enactment group activities and tall ship visits on TS Pelican berthed in the harbour.

There will also be opportunities to get the very latest ideas and information on how to make 2014 in Dorset full of memories and adventures.

Coun Bruce added: “We are delighted to have Asda in the line-up this year showing the latest trends in its George department fashion show.

“We would also like to thank Epic Printing for their quality print support and the tremendous support of the new management team at Weymouth Pavilion.”

Weymouth Pavilion operator Phil Say said: “It’s great to welcome the Best of Dorset show back to the Pavilion.

“It brings a lot of visitors and trade and shows that the building is still busy and active.

“Moving forward, we want to be involved and be a part of events being held in borough.”

This year’s theme is ‘volunteers’ and Steve Davies, events officer for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, said it will ‘recognise the impact and importance of volunteers and use the show to promote the many great opportunities to volunteer in the county’.

Organisers said visitors will also be able to make the most of an Echo-backed visitor map of the area, which will be given out on the day.

Bookings for stalls and exhibitions are now being taken, with stands costing from £150 plus VAT.
