Heavy rain has led to flooding on several Sussex roads this morning.

Roads have been closed or partially blocked and drivers are being warned to take care.

The A29 Shripney Road in Bognor is closed between Rowan Way and Nyton Road because of subsidence.

A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called out to the area shortly after 4pm yesterday  and provided sandbags for residents to help  protect properties.

“We left at around 8.30pm but the road is still closed.”

Others areas affected include Barcombe Mills Road near Lewes, which drivers report is under about two feet of water.

Parts of  the A27  between Polegate and the Beddingham Roundabout near Middle Farm are also affected.

The  A286 at Singleton, near Chichester, is flooded after the River Lavant burst its banks and the
B2192 at Blackboys is flooded between Stonebridge Lane and A22 at Halland.

More rain is forecast for Sussex tonight and over the weekend.
