Wintry showers are likely to fall in Sussex overnight, according to the Met Office. 

Its regional forecast says: "Some wintry showers overnight. Further rain and gales Wednesday.

"This evening and tonight: Largely dry and clear at first. Then later occasional sleet, snow or hail showers will arrive, perhaps leading to slight accumulations of snow. Icy stretches will form on untreated surfaces. Minimum Temperature 1 °C.

"Wednesday: Wintry showers, sometimes heavy, then outbreaks of rain. Through the afternoon the rain will become heavy, before clearing away eastwards. Blustery showers follow. Very windy, coastal gales developing, perhaps severe. Maximum Temperature 9 °C."

Blustery winds on Wednesday is a little understated! More like the potential for 60-70mph gusts along the Coast is a bit more than 'blustery'.

As Patcham and Bevendean are the two top priorities prone to flooding in Brighton and Hove (I think there are 6 priority areas in B&H), one would hope that environment officers have been keeping a close eye on the flood defence run-offs in the valley, and the underground unmanned reservoir on Bevendean Down. After the 2000 flood/landslide, it is concerning how much water the chalk/surrounding valley can take…
