A woman was held at gunpoint on Valentine’s Day.

The incident took place at a newsagents in Lower Church Road, Burgess Hill, at 2pm.

A Sussex Police statement said: “The suspect is described as of a dark or olive skinned complexion, of medium build, aged 35 to 40, 5'9", wearing a khaki hooded top, dark trousers and carrying a dark back pack.

“No customers were in the shop at the time, no shots were fired and nobody was injured, although the woman was very shocked and upset.

“Did you see him hanging around before the incident or running from the scene?”
