The A280 at Findon has been closed as work takes place to recover an articulated lorry that left the road this afternoon.
Nobody was injured in the incident, which took place at 12.40pm.
Recovery equipment is now on scene and police are warning that the road may be closed until around 6pm.
Sussex Police said the lorry went into a hedgerow.
