A famous cake shop has created a wedding cake for American television series Game of Thrones – but it is not typical of your average white wedding.

Choccywoccydoodah in Duke Street created the Red Wedding cake for the HBO series.

The notorious Red Wedding scene depicts the slaughtering of a number of the show’s main characters at a wedding.

The one-of-a-kind cake was created to mark the Blu-ray and DVD release of the show.

It was commissioned for a special screening event, attended by actress Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the show, who did the honour of cutting the cake.

Christine Taylor, founder of Choccywoccydoodah, said: “We were thrilled to be given the opportunity of creating the Red Wedding cake for Game of Thrones.

“Most of Choccywoccydoodah are avid fans of the series and the idea of creating a cake for this most powerful of all episodes blew us away.

“We decided to create a slaughtered cake, rather than a red cake, giving us the opportunity to try new techniques, new sculpting methods and new finishes.

“The daggers, swords and arrows were all created from chocolate, plunged into the cake and chocolate, revealing weeping bloody wounds.

“We also included a cracked shield of the two families in the episode, House of Stark and House of Frey, to symbolise the fact they are now at war. Four key team members of our cake team worked together, taking more than 20 hours to create it.

“The cake is chocolate rum and raisin, enrobed in chocolate, of course.”
