A musician has created a music video and song for the West Pier after it suffered serious damage during the storms.

Richard Michalec shot the video for his song on the beach the day after the latest big collapse.

It has already garnered hundreds of hits on YouTube.

Ben Collier took this picture of the video being shot on February 5.

Czech-born singer Mr Michalec's video has already attracted more than 300 views since it was uploaded onto the internet earlier this month.

The originally composed tune features the lyrics “What happened to you? Seem they don't love you anymore”.

Mr Michalec, from Bedford Square in Brighton, said: “I love the West Pier as I have been living next to it for a long time and have seen it through all the changes including the collapses and the fire.

“I remember it still being beautiful back in 1996 and I have always hoped that they were going to repair it.

“I was sad and frustrated after the pier burned down the first time and it lost its sign because when friends came to visit who had never been to Brighton I could not say anymore that I live next to West Pier, or 'meet me by the West Pier'.

Instead I had to say 'meet me by the other pier'.

Meanwhile, artist Terry Horton has also been turning heads with his eye-catching paintings of the famous Victorian landmark.

A solo exhibition of the Brighton-based painter will be held in the Jubilee Library from Monday March 3, for a fortnight in conjunction with charity Cancervive.
