LYME BAY PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB

JUDGE John Tilsley had his work cut out at the club meeting on Friday, February 14 when bad weather hampered both him and club members attending the judging of two club competitions. Stormy weather over the past few weeks played a major part in the images presented to John for judging.

He felt that some of the images entered in the competition whilst having stormy skies did not portray a really dramatic stormy picture. John praised the high standard of both PDIs and prints submitted and added that he felt if members didn’t enter the competitions they would not be winners. He also felt that some of the images could have been improved by judicial use of computer software.

Winners in the PDI Stormy Weather competition were in 1st place Rob Hunt with Rough Weather, 2nd Slow Down, Bad Visibility by Valerie Handley and Storm Watcher by Dave Emmins came 3rd. In the Stormy Weather Print section the winners were 1st with Look Out by Valerie Handley, 2nd Over the Wall by Jenny Wallis and 3rd Any Minute Now by Valerie Handley.

Winners in the PDI Open Competition were, 1st Rob Hunt with Charmouth Beach, 2nd Jennifer Hollands with Town Crier and 3rd Jenny Wallis with Peaceful Pastime. In the Print Open Competition Jenny Wallis, with print Cool Blue and new member Chris Sellers with his print titled Amy, were placed joint 1st and Chris also came 3rd with his print Wreck on the Isle of Mull.

The next meeting is on Friday, February 28, when John and Di Tilsley will talk about ‘Life After Slides’.
