SIR – Further to the feature on Bradford born Maurice Wilson and his unconventional attempt to climb Mount Everest (T&A, March 1).
Many years ago I remember borrowing a book on his life, called To Everest Alone, from Bradford Central Library, Darley Street. Did the book go with the demolition of the building?
Maurice Wilson had great confidence in his ability and inspiration. In his early life he was struck down with a serious illness – usually terminal in those days – but cured himself using unconventional methods including fasting for long periods.
If I remember correctly he was born in Holme Top Street, Little Horton.
If the house is still there it could well qualify for a blue plaque award in recognition of a unique Bradfordian.
