Blue plaque unveiled for murdered Brighton police chief

First published in News

The blue plaque to a hero police chief who was murdered in his office has been unveiled on the 170th anniversary of his death.

VIPs gathered in the Mayor’s Parlour at Brighton Town Hall for the tribute to Henry Solomon.

The chief constable was bludgeoned to death in his office by a criminal he was questioning.

Chief superintendent Nev Kemp was joined by his predecessor Graham Bartlett and Brighton and Hove mayor Denise Cobb at the ceremony.

The blue plaque is set to be erected on the wall outside the town hall – which was also Solomon’s office.

The official unveiling is set for an undetermined date in May.
