Hove man seeks permission to keep garden treehouse

The Argus: A file picture of plans for a treehouse in Northumberland A file picture of plans for a treehouse in Northumberland

A Hove resident has been forced to apply for planning permission for a treehouse he has build in his back garden.

Sinclair Bilton, living in Hove Park Road, has applied to Brighton and Hove City Council for permission to retain a wooden treehouse.

The resident is proposing to plant conifers between the treehouse and a nearby fence to completely hide the hut and to paint it green to obscure it.

A decision is expected in April.

I've built one, but it is screened by other trees and not visible to neighbours or snooping Council officials. I am currently renting it out to six Bulgarians who work for a local builder.

What a great looking tree house, I hope that Mr Bilton does all that he can to keep it.
Why does he need planning permission?
Is he living in it, does it have a mains electric, gas or water supply attached to it?
Does it overlook somebodies toilet or bedroom, as in the recent article that the council has done nothing about?

Why on earth have they got that 'file picture' of a completely unrelated treehouse? I seriously doubt Mr Bilton's looks anything like that (though I'm sure it's very nice too). You might as well say "man seeks permission to put up garden shed" and print a photo of Buckingham Palace.
