A father-of-two is celebrating the 25th anniversary of one of his biggest feats by running back-to-back marathons.

Toby Hamilton was 16 when he ran the London Marathon in 1989 and the 41-year-old from Hove is marking the anniversary by completing the same course seven days after running the Brighton Marathon.

Mr Hamilton said: “As a 16-year-old lad I ran the London Marathon in three hours and 39 minutes.

“Officially you have to be 18 years old, so my claim to fame is that potentially I am the youngest person ever to run the London Marathon.

“My inspiration to do this is my daughter Mia who was born with a rare hand condition known as Symbrachydactyly.

“She, along with hundreds of other children, has been the beneficiary of the two charities I am running for.

“They do amazing work.”

He is running on behalf of Rockinghorse – the official charity of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton – as well as Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Mr Hamilton will be running the marathons with the metal plates and screws doctors inserted into his legs after a horrific motorbike crash in Thailand 11 years ago.

The Brighton Marathon is on April 6 with the London Marathon happening on April 13.

Mr Hamilton has already completed four half-marathons to prepare, including the Brighton Half Marathon when he ran a personal best of one hour 42 minutes.

He also completed the London South 2013 Tough Mudder – complete with electric shock obstacles.

He added: “I have run hundreds of miles in training over the past year in order to hopefully complete both marathons in sub-four hours.

“I am most passionate about this and determined to raise a minimum of £3,000 for each charity.”

The property company director first came to Brighton in 1992 to study business and now lives in Hove with his wife Julie and two children Mia, who is eight, and Lucas, four.
