A drink driver was four times over the limit when he got into his car after leaving the pub.

Police were called to Worthing at 9.45pm on Saturday by a member of the public who believed a man in The Lamb pub in Salvington Road, Worthing, was going to drink-drive home.

A Sussex Police statement said: “Officers went to the area and stopped 31-year-old Michael Barnard on suspicion of drink-driving in Durrington Lane shortly after midnight.

“He recorded a reading of 130 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath when he was tested – almost four times the legal limit.

“Barnard, 31, of Warren Crescent, East Preston, was charged with drink-driving.

“He was remanded in custody to appear at Crawley Magistrates' Court on March 24.

“When he appeared in court he pleaded guilty and was jailed for 12 weeks and banned from driving for three years.”
