EVESHAM Rugby Club recorded only their second Midlands Three West (South) win of the season with a narrow 17-16 home success over Cheltenham North.
But there is no saving the Vale side from a relegation place with four games left as they are 19 points off second-from-bottom Kings Norton and 24 behind local rivals Shipston-on-Stour.
Evesham host improved Shipston on Saturday hoping to finish the season strongly.
Meanwhile, mid-table Pershore were edged out 42-38 in a 12-try thriller at promotion-chasing Old Wheatleyans in the same division.
After going 19-0 down during a slow start, the prolific Martin Hope scored four tries alongside efforts from flanker Greg Shaw and Marcus Whyte as the Piddle Parkers had plenty of joy at the line-outs.
Skipper Lewis Dolphin added the other points with the boot against their third-placed opposition.
Pershore visit Ledbury on Saturday at Ross Road (3pm).
Bredon Star claimed the Gloucester Division Two points without playing after a home walk-over against Spartans. Third-placed Star host Cotham Park on Saturday.
