Junior school pupils showed off their beautiful Easter bonnets to the residents of a neighbouring residential home.

The young winners of the Easter Hat Parade at Southway Junior School in Burgess Hill popped into the Forest View Residential Home next door.

Among the residents who admired their hats was 101-year-old Fred Hockey, the oldest in the home.

The winners, judged by a panel of teaching assistants and administration staff at the school, visited the home following their annual Easter Hat Parade.

Sharon Carter, the school's business manager, said: “Every year the school holds an Egg-stravaganza competition where children make Easter hats and perform in an Easter Hat Parade.

“They also make models using eggs, depicting a scene from their favourite film, TV programme or anything else that inspires them.”
