Vegans are not really renowned for being sexy – until now.

Buff Brighton security worker Seth Taggart, 40, has made it to the final of PETA’s Sexiest Vegan competition for 2014.

The animal rights charity has been on the search for good-looking vegans who demonstrate an enthusiasm in promoting the dietary choice.

Mr Taggart, who is one of four male finalists in this year’s competition, has been a vegan for 19 years and ditched animal products over concerns about the behaviour of the meat industry.

Now a proud animal rights advocate, he tries to inspire others to adopt a “healthy and compassionate” diet by posting links on his Facebook page to articles about veganism.

He said: “I can’t resist vegan yoghurt.

“If there are ten in the fridge, they are gone.”

When asked by PETAbosses what animal he would choose to be, he said: “A rhino, because I’m short-sighted, bad-tempered, chunky, vegan and covered in body armour.”

If Mr Taggart is crowned Britain’s Sexiest Vegan, he will scoop a night for two and lunch at the Lancrigg Vegetarian Country House Hotel in Grasmere, Cumbria, plus a vegan dinner for two at the town’s elegant Zeffirellis restaurant.

Yvonne Taylor, of PETA, said: “Compassion for others is not only a sign of strength but also a big turn-on.

“Everyone who entered this contest is a winner because they know that the best thing that people can do for animals, the planet and their own health is to go vegan.”

Voting for the finalists will run from April 2 to 11.

The winner will be announced on April 15.
