IN THE past when I have been away from York, people’s reaction when I tell them I live in York is to tell me I am very fortunate to live in such a beautiful and historic city, and on reflection I suppose I am.
However, it is very possible that this will soon change.
If money has to be returned to motorists who drove over Lendal Bridge at the wrong time, this will involve the council in extra expense which will, of course, have to met by the ratepayers.
So I am afraid that the announcement that I live in York will be met with either sympathy or suppressed laughter.
