A person has been hit by a train at Hassocks.

The incident happened just before 2pm today.

There are delays of up to 50 minutes between Gatwick Airport and Brighton as a result.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called at just after 2pm to reports of a person hit by a train at Hassocks.

"We are currently en route, as are Sussex Police and local paramedics.

"It would appear a person has been struck and killed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
