Residents asked to snitch on neighbours who leave their dogs' mess on pavements

Two councils have teamed up to launch a campaign against dog fouling.

Mid Sussex District Council and Burgess Hill Town Council are hoping to reduce dog mess in the town with their “don't turn your back on dog fouling” campaign.

Residents are being urged to be on the lookout for owners who do not clear up their pet's mess - and then provide as much information as possible including date, time and location of the offence as well a description of the dog.

The council intends to hand out on-the-spot fines.

Snitch? So now it is looked down upon to care about your environment and report antisocial behaviour? Well done Argus! People should be applauded for standing up for what is right, not labeled 'a snitch'! Dodge the Dog Doo is one game I would be happy not to have to play on the way to school... Who knows how much dog excrement is dragged into classrooms on the bottom of peoples shoes? Then children are expected to sit on the carpet! Disgusting!
Encourage everyone to be responsible for their actions not afraid to report...

Would love to know how this is going to work. As people in my area do not clear up their dog mess. There are a few that do, clear it. Sadly get stopped by people due to the mess outside their properties. I have a little dog which obviously means a little poo. Sadly the big piles belong to much larger dogs. When you respond they get the hump and flick the poo into the kerb or over the road. Understand that its not their job to clear. But not my job either. I pick up what my little jack does.
