An eight-year-old boy airlifted to hospital after suffering serious head injuries in a playground is “stable and improving”, police said.

Sussex Police said the boy, of Crawley, was getting better today.

On Friday his condition had remained critical.

He was airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, South London, on Monday, April 7, following an incident in Cherry Lane Adventure Playground, Crawley.

A pole hit him as he played on a piece of equipment.
