A woman is today critically ill in hospital after the car she was travelling in collided with a parked car.

A girl of 14 and a woman of 18 also needed hospital treatment following the accident in Alinora Avenue, Worthing, yesterday.

Two men aged 20 and 21, who were also in the car, were arrested on suspicion of drink driving and of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

All five, who live in the Worthing area,  had been travelling in a silver hatchback when the accident happened at around 5.10pm.

The 19-year old woman and the 14-year-old were freed from the car by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

The woman was taken to St Georges Hospital in London by air ambulance where she is currently in a critical condition.

The two men are currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.

Sergeant Alan Spicer of the Sussex Road Policing Unit at Arundel said; "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this crash or may have seen the small silver hatchback in the area just beforehand."
