A lane on the westbound A27 has closed between the Sussex Pad lights and the Shoreham Flyover due to a vehicle fire by Lancing College.
The eastbound carriageway was also closed while the fire was put out.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Shortly before 10am on Wednesday 16 April a car caught fire in the filter road to Shoreham Airport off the A27. One lane of the westbound carriageway was closed,
"Nobody was hurt and fire is now out ."
