Beachgoers will be able to check out some attractive curves the next time they head to the seafront with the imminent grand opening of this distinctive bandstand.

Littlehampton Town Council’s Stage by the Sea project will open with a concert on Sunday, May 11.

The new performance space, which is being built on the site of the seaside town’s former bandstand at the end of Banjo Road, has not been without its drama even during its construction phrase.

The project was originally due to finish before Christmas last year, but bad weather and the financial collapse of management contractors Cavendish Consultancy put the completion date back.

Final touches are now being put to the stage in preparation for next month’s highly anticipated opening.

Local Liberal Democrat councillor Dr James Walsh said: “With the Stage by the Sea along with the iconic East Beach Cafe and Longest Bench and the new riverside walk due to be finished later this year, we are really putting Littlehampton back on the map.”
