Sponsors are being sought to help these orphaned fox cubs.

The three youngsters were found by dog walkers with their mothers having either been run over or now missing.

The cubs are in the care of Roger and Fleur Musselle, who run Roger’s Wildlife Rescue in Woodingdean, Brighton.

Mr Musselle said: “They were so young they still had their umbilical cords attached.

“We will keep hold of them until the autumn and build them up before we release them back to the wild.

“They rely on us so much at the moment so they are incredibly friendly. They even play around the house with my daughter, they think she is mum.”

Two of the cubs were found last week near bins at Whitehawk Football Club’s home ground, East Brighton Park.

The other young cub was found with a broken leg in Whiteway Lane in Rottingdean.

Mr Musselle added: “It is a busy time of the year for us. In total now we have seven young cubs, six squirrels and baby wild rabbits.

“I have to hand feed them all which takes two hours at a time – four times a day. I’ve actually got two squirrels on my lap now as we are talking.

“It can be very expensive, we have to feed the cubs a special formula which costs £65 a tin. We are always looking for help and would love people to come forward and sponsor them. The cub with the broken leg is called Sooty Rose and the other two are Pluto and Jupiter.”

The cubs will be in the care of the Musselles until the autumn, when they will be released back into the wild.

This not only allows them time to grow but is also a time of year when they can best find new territory.
