Beauty judges were sold on a pitch by a marketing assistant who claimed the title of Miss Sussex 2014.
The 24-year-old Stephanie Prior from Brighton clinched the coveted title in a fiercely contested heat at Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club in Ticehurst.
The employee at Hove-based Searches UK will now join 60 other young women at Miss England in June in Torquay after all five judges put her through on the night.
First runner-up Lucy Kent, a promotional model who works for Copthorne Motor Company in Crawley, will go to the Miss England semi-final as Miss Sussex Runner-Up while dancer and actress Kimberley Booker will go to the Miss England semi-final representing Brighton.
Kerry Sexton’s skills as a female banger car racer won her the talent round award while Kim Fletcher from Bognor won the charity round for raising more than £2,000 for the Miss Sussex’s three chosen charities.
