A three-legged dog needs a new home after he was found limping around Hove.

The three-legged Staffordshire Bull Terrier, with no microchip or collar, was found by dog wardens.

The dog, who has been named Danny, was taken by South Coast Staffie Rescue, a voluntary rescue service managed by Gina Tillet, where he was looked after and checked over.

His owners have not come forward and the rescue team is now looking for a new home for him.

A volunteer at the rescue service Karl Keating said: “He is lovely, a little bit temperamental with other animals, so he would be best as an only pet.

“It is such a shame. It is a common story that some people just abandon their dogs like this.”

He added Danny requires no special care, just lots of love and attention, and the sooner he is re-homed the better.

He said: “We are in desperate need to find a new home for him.

“Staffies are not ones to be kept in kennels and he has been getting very stressed out - he keeps jumping up and down.

“When you get him out of the kennels and going for a walk on the lead and he is a totally different dog.”

The Staffie Rescue is ideally looking for a permanent new home for Danny or for someone to take him in as a foster dog until new owners can be found.

All food and vet care costs will be covered if someone wants to look after him temporarily.

South Coast Staffie Rescue takes in dogs from various backgrounds, including strays and dogs which have been victims of cruelty.
