Burglars have targeted a series of sports clubs across the south coast.

They have hit Peacehaven and Telscombe Bowls Club three times in a month and broken into the nearby football club.

The club in Piddinghoe Avenue, Peacehaven, has been broken into twice in March and an attempted break was made overnight from Monday, April 14 to Tuesday, April 15 Burglars stole cash and alcohol and caused damage to the clubhouse when they broke in overnight on the March 24 to 25, and again on the following night March 25 to 26,.

Peacehaven and Telscombe Football Club, also in Piddinghoe Avenue, has been broken into twice, again overnight on April 4 to 5 and then on April 6.

Both times damage was caused but nothing was stolen.

Both clubs are metres from each other.

A 16-year-old boy, from Peacehaven has been arrested in relation to all these offences and released on conditional bail until June 1.

PC Louise Barkaway from Peacehaven Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Both of these clubs have been targeted by mindless thieves and vandals in the last month. Both clubs have since boosted their security and extra police patrols will be put in place in the area concerned.

"This investigation is ongoing and we urge any members of the public to come forward if they have any information about who else may be involved in these crimes."
