WITH VIDEO: Two women and a man have been jailed for a vicious robbery on a man on his way home.

CCTV footage shows how the 40-year-old was pounced on in Queens Road, Eastbourne, by Louise Gould, Lauren St Pierre and Wayne Rogers and punched to the ground.

The group, all of no fixed address, then dragged him out of view of the main road and began repeatedly kicking him in the head and stamping on his body while he lay defenceless on the ground.

They rifled through his pockets and stole his mobile phone before leaving him lying in agony after they were interrupted by a passer-by who stepped in and told them to leave the victim alone.

The victim was taken to hospital with severe bruising to his head and face after the assault in the early hours of Friday, April 26.

Paramedics called police and officers tracked down witnesses and CCTV footage that clearly identified the offenders.

Gould, 31, was jailed for nine years when she appeared at Lewes Crown Court. Rogers, 29, was jailed for seven years. St Pierre, 25, was jailed for five years.

Detective Sergeant John Steven said: "This was a sickening attack on an innocent man who was on his way home after a night out with friends.

"He was subjected to a vicious attack that could have been even worse if a member of the public had not bravely intervened.

"It is a miracle that the victim did not suffer any life-changing or life-threatening injuries."
