A man was attacked by a stranger with a knife after he complimented a woman's appearance.

The 36-year-old man from Hove was walking up Cannon Place in Brighton on Friday April 11 as another man and woman walked towards him at around 10.40pm.

He complimented the woman on her appearance and an argument ensued. The man with the woman pulled out a knife, slashed the victim across his cheek and then chased him to the top of Queensbury Mews.

The victim received hospital treatment for his injury and was then discharged.

The man with the knife is described as being of mixed race or arabic in appearance, between 20 to 40 years, of skinny build, with big bushy eyebrows and long black hair in a pony tail.

He was wearing blue jeans, black jumper, and white trainers. The woman he was with is described as white, in her twenties, about 5'10", with long black hair, and of slim build. She was wearing a short black skirt.
