Children, teachers and parents at Meeching Valley Primary School celebrated St George’s Day in style.

Students wore red and white clothes or dressed up as dragons or knights to spend the day learning the story of St George and the dragon.

Headteacher Davina Wakelin said: “I wanted the children to have an understanding of St George, where St George came from and the story of St George and the dragon and really celebrate what’s good about England and being British.

“Each class has been doing different activities through drama and art, creating the dragon. They’ve been making shields and creating their own flags and they did lots of writing, looking at the story of St George and writing stories and changing the ending.

“At lunch staff made traditional English fish and chips and at the end of the day we had a sharing assembly, which parents came to and the children showed them the work they’d produced.”
