A man who was found dead at a recycling centre in West Sussex has been named.

He was Ben Farr, 28, of St Leonards.

The body of Mr Farr was discovered on Tuesday in Rudeford Industrial Estate, Ford.

Police said they cannot rule the possibility Mr Farr had come from a commercial bin at a seafront site in West Sussex.

Rubbish is colleted from such sites before being collected and compacted at the site in Ford where Mr Farr was found.

A force spokeswoman said at this stage it was not clear how Mr Farr had come to be in the bin in West Sussex.

It is not clear why Mr Farr, who has links to Brighton, Hastings and St Leonards, was in West Sussex.

A Sussex Police statement said: "Police are not treating the death of a man whose body was found at Ford waste centre on Tuesday as suspicious, following a post-mortem.

"The man has been identified as Ben Farr, aged 28, of Stonehouse Drive, St Leonards.

"Police were called shortly before 9am on Tuesday to reports a body had been found at the Rudford Industrial Estate near Ford."

Detective Inspector Jim McKnight said: "It is likely that Ben's body was brought to the site by lorry having been taken from a commercial refuse bin. The refuse bin could be from a number of locations but is likely to be from a coastal location in West Sussex.

"His death is being treated as unexplained and the investigation is ongoing into the circumstances. We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard from Ben from April 15 to contact police with information as we are trying to build up a picture of his movements.

"Ben had links to St Leonards and Hastings and was also known to frequent the Brighton area."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting serial 0767 of 24/04.
