Marvellous Morris dancers entertained crowds to celebrate May Day.

The Brighton Morris Men proved early risers when they embarked on a day of jigging and dancing across Brighton and Hove.

The costume-clad troupe danced before sunrise at Hollingbury Camp, just off the golf course in Ditchling Road, before travelling to various schools in and around Brighton.

After a spot of lunch in the Brighton Tavern, they were pictured in full swing in Pavilion Gardens.

May Day is celebrated in various countries across the globe as a traditional springtime festival and, for some a time to remember workers of the world.

Its origins date back to Saxon England.
