A man has been airlifted to hospital after the motorcycle he was riding struck a tree.

The incident took place at 9.50am on the A259 in Bexhill.

A Sussex Police spokesman this morning said the adult man hit a tree and had been taken to King’s College Hospital in Central London.

He added: “He has suffered serious injuries.”

It is believed he was part of the Hastings May Day Bike Ride, an annual event which is taking place today.
