A 27-year-old man has been released without charge after he was arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident outside Asda in St Leonards.

Police were called to the store in Battle Road at 6.45pm on Wednesday 16 April by a member of the public who reported that a man was attacking a woman outside.

A man from St Leonards was later arrested on suspicion of assault and questioned before being released without charge.

Police are now calling for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

PC Jodie Walter said: "The argument happened outside the store alongside a busy road so lots of people would have seen what happened.

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have filmed the incident on their mobile phone.

"If you were there and saw what happened, please contact us."

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 1237 of 16/4, email or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
