Rail service in chaos as signal problems cause delays and cancellations

The Argus: Rail service in chaos as signal problems cause delays and cancellations Rail service in chaos as signal problems cause delays and cancellations

Rail services between Brighton and London have been left in chaos this morning after a number of signal problems caused delays and cancellations.

One service from London Bridge suffered delays after someone trespassed on the line.

Another service was disrupted due to lack of available train crew.

The signal issues are continuing to disrupt Brighton to London services with the 11.49 Brighton to London service being cancelled as well as the 12.06, 12.36, 13.06 London to Brighton services.

In a message on Twitter Southern Rail has advised passengers to expect delays of up to 40 minutes with short notice cancellations still possible.

Rail service in chaos!!!
Headline catcher is all.
Writer probably knows nothing about the railway signal system?
Better safe than sorry and you can always jump in the car and get held up for an hour or more at an accident, roadworks or diversions.

HS2 just doesnt make sense. Its a vanity project. We should spend the 40 probably end up 100 billion on all our current substandard Countrywide railway network. As for Southern rail well I would take away their franchise as tje company is not fit to run a railway. Most of the time we are ferried on to buses from Haywards Heath.Should be renamed "the useless Southern rail/bus company"

Actually the headline writer should be punished for using the words "Rail" and "Service" together. They go together like sprouts and jam !

Actually I think you will find Network Rail manage the lines, not Southern Railways. Signalling problems will be fixed by Network Rail, and until they are fixed Southern can not run their trains to the time table.

If you are ferried to Haywards Heath on a bus, it is because Network Rail are working on the lines, not that Southern do not have a train for you to get on.

Yes, Network Rail are rubbish, but so are Southern and First Crapital Connect. For example in the story it mentions "lack of available train crew". That's not Network Rail's fault.

My train was 20 minutes late today. Not a single apology or explanation. Southern and FCC staff have no concept of good customer service. I hope they are both stripped of their franchises.

You're wasting your time. As you work for Southern you should know most passengers have no interest or knowledge about trains and how they run.

No train crew. Did it occur too you that the crew for your train may be stuck in the problem and not be able to get where you were. If a train is late getting into Brighton possibly there is a driver on it already who can't also drive your train at Brighton on time. Jeez a bit of common sense would make your day a lot calmer.
